This series was inspired by my research in the scientific collections at Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales. I have combined techniques which are normally used in printmaking, printed circuit board manufacturing and jewellery design; drawing images directly onto a copper surface, which is then etched, oxidised, sanded, scratched and polished. Each finished piece displays unique variations in the surface patina with intricate shining copper details. The etched drawings reflect playful themes of darkness and light, encasement, micro detail, repetition and order, all observed within the museum environment. I have marked each plate with my own series of accession numbers to show the date that it was created, thereby forming my own collection reference.
